Scotland’s largest law firm is to build on the success of last year’s Tennis Greats at Gleneagles by hosting a new Brodies Invitational tennis tournament at Gleneagles Hotel on the 10/11 June.
British tennis greats, Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski, and Grand Slam finalists Thomas Enqvist and Cédric Pioline will battle it out over four matches during the two-day festival of tennis at the hotel’s indoor arena, the venue for last year’s star-studded tennis event jointly organised by Brodies and Gleneagles.
The event is also being supported by the John Clark Motor Group, one of Scotland’s largest car dealership businesses, and full service marketing agency The Gate.
Tim Henman, the former world No 4 and six times Grand Slam semi-finalist, said: “I can’t wait to compete in Scotland again. Andy Murray’s success has had a tremendous impact on Scottish tennis and we all hope that the Brodies Invitational will help encourage young people from across the country to pick up a racquet and get involved. While there will be fun on court and an opportunity for sports fans to soak up the pre-Wimbledon atmosphere, make no mistake – our passion for the game is as strong as ever and we’re all out to win.”
The tournament also aims to encourage grass-roots involvement in the game. Supported by Gleneagles, Tennis Scotland and Judy Murray, the Brodies Invitational will see the legends compete with Scotland’s most talented junior players, join Judy and local schoolchildren in a ‘Tennis on the Road’ session, and help raise money for the Elena Baltacha Foundation, which aims to give children from all backgrounds the opportunity to take part in the sport.
