Acorn Enterprise works with individuals to develop: confidence, clarity and business skills. In doing so, they help overcome the many barriers they face when launching a new business or project.
Kallum “with a K” Russell (26) is co-founder and Chief Enterprise Officer of Acorn Enterprise and launched the organisation, alongside Jerry Alexander (42), just two year’s after his Graduation from Heriot-Watt University.
Kallum has been working with the Scottish entrepreneurial community for a number of years. Before co-founding Acorn Enterprise, he also successfully launched a networking group, Dunfermline Talks Business, and ran a marketing consultancy for small businesses, Audacious Marketing. He has spoken at the largest Student Enterprise Conference in Europe, at UCL in London, and he has been invited back to speak next year at the University of Lincoln due to extremely positive feedback.
In 2014 he was the UK runner-up in the Young Social Entrepreneur Awards but one year later won the Dunfermline Press & Central Fife Times Community Champions Entrepreneurial Award.
Kallum was also one of only five Scottish individuals listed in the Sunday Times Maserati 100 this year, an index of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs that are giving back to support the next generation. He was featured alongside Sir Tom Farmer, Prof John Anderson and Lord Karan Bilimoria.
Alongside running Acorn Enterprise, Kallum is also actively involved in Young Enterprise Scotland and with Start-up Britain and currently sits on the Board for Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) in Fife and has served there since January 2015.
Kallum was selected as one of three Startup Britain Enterprise Champions for Scotland. As an ambassador for this UK-wide organisation, he is responsible for promoting and advocating entrepreneurship, through: blogging, attending events and helping out on during their annual UK Bus Tour, which visits over 30 major cities in the UK every Summer. He recently offered speed-mentoring to aspiring and new business owners in Perth.
Acorn Enterprise has been on a mission to create a sustainable movement, that will lead to a fundamental change in attitude and behaviour, in terms of setting up and growing new businesses in Scotland.
