Under Peter Walker’s guidance, Meldrum House has collected various awards over recent years –
Rising Star of the Year at the Scottish Hotel Awards in 2013 was notable
Most Hospitable Hotel 3 years in a row with the ACSTA
However being awarded the AA’s Hotel of the Year for Scotland 2014/15 was the pinnacle and a very proud moment for the general manager and his team.
Peter was previously involved in the refurbishment of the £2.5m stables project, and recently he was involved in a newly completed £4.5m development.
Being involved in all the design, architectural & bank meetings with the Directors was a real learning curve and a special time for him – as he was heavily involved in all aspects of the decision making and layout so that the hotel “worked” operationally.
Peter now manages approx. 85-100 full & part time staff with a senior management team of 12.
Turnover has grown from £650k in 2009 to £2.95m in 2013, with 2016 target of £2.8m and 2017 £3.6m – quite a responsibility for someone in there mid thirties.
Peter is a former steering group member of the Grampian Food Forum, prior to its change and merger with ACSEF, as well as being an active board member of Hospitality Training.
