New whisky brand 8O8 Whisky has raised 211% over its original £300,000 crowdfunding target since launching the campaign with the final amount standing at £631,932.
The 8O8 campaign was the ‘biggest mover’ on Seedrs in terms of both amount and percentage raised during its first week due to the high level of interest from investors.
Funds raised will enable the brand to widen its distribution network with Asia and the US as key targets.
274 investors will have a 9.12% stake within the business and shall receive incentives such as early-bird bookings for exclusive 8O8 events for those who invested £50 to opportunities to meet the founders and more for £5,000 and upwards.
Born out of a love of music and whisky, 8O8 was launched in 2016 by music producer and DJ TommyD and innovation entrepreneur Paul Pullinger.
Having recruited whisky legend Jonathan Driver to help with the creation of the liquid they then set about gathering a truly unique advisory team of industry icons from both drinks and music.
The 8O8 team contains the likes of Warner Music UK CEO Max Lousada, ex-Red Bull chief Harry Drnec, ex-CEO of the prestigious North British Whisky Distillery David Rae and legendary DJ Pete Tong MBE all advising or investing in the company.
8O8 is named after the celebrated Roland TR-808 Drum Machine; and is blended at North British distillery, Edinburgh’s last working distillery and one of the largest and oldest grain whisky producers in Scotland.
TommyD said; “We are truly humbled by the response to our campaign. To smash through the target within a week is one thing but to finish with over 200% of our expected amount is a huge acknowledgment that we are doing something exciting and groundbreaking in the spirits world. We are thrilled about the prospects for 8O8 and delighted that the additional funding will help us achieve our ambitions in a more timely way supported by a like minded group of investors that appreciate the power of music and whisky. Watch this Pace!”
