Lovell has begun work on a new £3.4 million development of 30 flats for social rent just off Lasswade Road, five miles south of Edinburgh City centre on behalf of Link Group Ltd with the development expected to reach completion in late October 2017.
The finished development will consist of 9 one bedroom flats and 21 two-bedroom flats, 4 of which will be wheelchair accessible. Under the 2011 Building Regulations, the development will achieve the optional silver level standard in sustainability. The outer rooftops of the development will be fitted with state-of-the-art photovoltaic panels, helping to reduce energy bills for occupants as well as lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Lovell operations in Scotland are currently undergoing a period of considerable growth and the company is on track to build more than 450 new homes this year, an increase of 60% on the number of units completed in 2016. Activity is expected to increase by a further 7% in 2018.
