Scottish Airline Loganair has joined the international big league when it became one of the launch partners for a new easyJet product, Worldwide by easyJet.
Worldwide by easyJet is the first global airline connections service by a European low fares airline, with Loganair joining Canadian airline WestJet and Norwegian as founder members.
The move comes less than two weeks after Loganair split from franchise partner Flybe, and started flying solo for the first time in 25 years.
The new service will enable the customers of participant airlines to seamlessly connect with partner airline flights through a digital, virtual hub. easyJet will also sell stand-alone tickets on behalf of partner airlines, including Loganair , thereby boosting the brand recognition of Scotland’s airline. easyJet operates one of the biggest travel websites in Europe with around 360m visits in the last 12 months.
Loganair managing director Jonathan Hinkles said: “We’re excited to be featuring in this new initiative as one of the launch participants. We expect it to lend strength to Loganair’s sales efforts in markets such as Manchester and London Stansted where easyJet has a strong presence but our brand may not be well recognised. The introduction of such a well-known name in travel also selling stand-alone tickets for travel on the Loganair network vastly improves our distribution capability by promoting the Loganair name and network to a worldwide audience”
Peter Duffy, chief commercial officer for easyJet, said: “Loganair operates a complementary network to easyJet and will allow our passengers to easily book onward flights e.g. from Glasgow and Edinburgh with Loganair to Scotland’s Highlands and Islands, including the Glasgow – Barra link, the world’s only scheduled service to a beach airport.”
