The founder and CEO of Edinburgh-based Vert Rotors has been named in a prestigious list recognising the UK’s Top 100 most inspiring individuals in the manufacturing sector, according to a report published by the Manufacturer magazine.
An innovative manufacturing entrepreneur, Olly Dmitriev, who was named ‘Inventor of the Year’ at the 2017 Made in Scotland Awards, invented the world’s smallest low-vibration compressors for a range of applications including space and terrestrial applications.
The list, now in its fourth year, is selected by a team of industry experts in recognition of the dedication of those who have significantly contributed to the manufacturing sector in the previous 12 months. Criteria nominees are judged against includes; leadership, investment in new markets and driving cultural change.
In that time Vert Rotors has introduced its VERT.8 and VERT.80 compressors to the market as well as installing the UK’s first ultra-precision CNC milling machinery from DMG-Mori for the manufacture of its micro compressors. The company has also worked with the UK Ministry of Defence to engineer a micro compressor for a satellite.
Dmitriev said: “It has been an exciting year for Vert Rotors as we have introduced new products, enhanced our manufacturing process and grown the team. We have a great team of experienced engineers working hard to push forward innovation. Being included beside some of the biggest names in the UK manufacturing scene in the Top 100 list is a great honour and recognises the success we have had in 2017.
“Our focus on developing technology that can support work in the most delicate and situation critical industries is being increasingly recognised. From space to medical treatment, our micro-compressors are play a vital role in a variety of sectors.”
Since it was founded in 2013, Vert’s proprietary conical compressor design has reinvented a key component of mass manufacturing, bringing technological advancement not witnessed in the compressor industry for more than 30 years.
