Trisent to collaboration in data security with Edinburgh Napier University

Scottish start-up software company, Trisent, is to collaborate with cyber security expert, Prof. Bill Buchannan OBE at Edinburgh Napier University.

Trisent is developing a unique Personal Data Browser using systems architectures and technology developed in partnership with Edinburgh Napier.  The Personal Data Browser helps customers to collect all of their personal data, make it secure and useful.

Gordon Povey, CEO and Founder of Trisent, said: “This collaboration is important to us commercially because customers need to trust companies that process their personal data. With this project, data resilience and security will be raised to levels that are currently unattainable by other companies. We will also be providing high levels of transparency in how data is being gathered and used. Building high levels of trust with our customers clearly gives Trisent a major commercial advantage. “

Speaking of the partnership, Prof Bill Buchanan OBE said: “We are keen to work with Trisent because we believe in their citizen focussed approach to personal data and Edinburgh Napier has internationally leading expertise in data encryption, cybersecurity and blockchain, and so this collaboration will allow us to jointly develop the safest system in the world for your personal data.”

Trisent has already developed an automated personal diary system for individuals concerned about the privacy of their data. The new Personal Data Browser will work in a similar way by automatically consolidating personal data from many sources, organising it by context and providing the owner with a browser to view, search and analyse this data. In the future this will also provide the capability to use personal data in the personalisation of external services such as internet search.

Founded in 2016 and based in Scotland, Trisent plans to launch a beta version of the Personal Data Browser in the summer, followed by the release of the full product later in the year.
