Inaugural shortlist gives Nod to Scotland’s creative talent

The Nods, Scotland’s newest set of awards for the creative industries, has announced its first-ever shortlist, comprising 17 honours and more than 80 nominations.

The inaugural set of nominees includes a broad range of organisations, with strong agency representation from the likes of Leith, Whitespace, Frame, Mearns & Gill, Radiator, Carat, and Front Page. The shortlist also comprises brands of all shapes and sizes, from household names such as Royal Bank of Scotland and Irn Bru, to the Lyceum and Scottish Ballet in the arts.

MT Rainey, chair of the judging panel, founder and CEO of advertising agency Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe, past chair of Th_nk, and current deputy chair of Channel 4, said: “It’s incredibly encouraging to see so many nominations in our first year – it’s testament to the breadth and depth of creative talent we have in Scotland. Many of these brands will have been waiting for an opportunity to display their work for years, and The Nods is the long overdue platform on which they can do exactly that. I’m absolutely thrilled to support these awards and look forward to examining these creative entries in finer detail during the weeks that remain.”

Within each category individual awards will be given to a host of campaigns, organisations and people including: brand experience, out of home, PR, creative communications agency of the year, client of the year, best communications creative and best creative entrepreneur.

MT Rainey is joined on the judging panel by high-profile marketing figures, including Spain’s Gonzalo Figari, a Cannes Lion judge; Helio Soares of Portugal and Lorenzo Shakespear of Argentina.

The awards also have a number of founding supporters from across the creative sector, helping to drive the mission of awards for creatives by creatives.
