Dundee ‘sapling’ 1st to win RBoS place – to drive global video dream

A young businessman has taken a step closer to his global video production dream by becoming the first graduate of a Dundee business accelerator scheme to win a place on Royal Bank of Scotland’s Entrepreneur Accelerator programme.

James Williamson (37), Managing Director of Dundee-based motion and video marketing company Moovii, has been working in TV, film and animation production for agencies and brands around the world since 2001 and plans to make Moovii the No.1 video partner for brands and agencies globally.

He won a place as an ‘acorn’ in the first Dundee cohort of the free Acorn Enterprise accelerator programme in September 2017.

After 20 weeks of intense learning, including masterclasses from experts such as Bob Keiller, Chairman of Scottish Enterprise, he graduated from the programme as a ‘sapling’ on January 26.

James has since won one of the 70 places in the latest tranche of Royal Bank of Scotland’s Entrepreneur Accelerator programme, based at its Edinburgh Hub. He was chosen from 150 applicants to begin the six-month scheme last month and is due to graduate from it in October.

Over that time he’s due to develop himself and his business further through online learning and coaching as well as take part in regular action-focused events and gain unique access to Royal Bank of Scotland networks and teams.

James is the first Acorn Enterprise Dundee ‘sapling’ to also win a place on the Entrepreneur Accelerator programme.

Speaking about the move, James said: “I’m delighted to be able to build on the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills I gained on the Dundee Acorn Enterprise programme.

“It made a big difference to how I see the way forward for my business and I expect the Entrepreneur Accelerator programme to help in different ways. I already have some exciting plans, so watch this space!”
