Multiple honours in sight as SureVoIP gears up for national awards ceremony

A leading Software as a Service (SaaS) provider has been shortlisted for four separate honours as part of a prestigious industry event to be held in London this month.

SureVoIP, which specialises in using the internet to deliver telecoms – more commonly known as voice-over internet protocol (VoIP), will go head-to-head with some of the UK’s biggest communications firms at the ITSPA Awards 2018 (Thursday, May 24).

The Aberdeen-based company, which is a network operator with its own equipment in Edinburgh and London, has been nominated for Best Business ITSP (up to £2m); Best Consumer/SOHO ITSP; Best VoIP Innovation – SureVoIP Customer Portal; and, Best VoIP Infrastructure – SureVoIP Hosted VoIP.

Celebrating its tenth year, the awards are organised by the UK body that represents the communications industry, the Internet Telephony Service Provider Association, and recognise telephony providers from across the country that have excelled in their field.

Entrants are required to complete two months of rigorous technical testing which scrutinises the reliability, stability and service quality of their operations as well as a written submission and case studies.

Gavin Henry, managing director at SureVoIP, said: “The ITSPA Awards are one of the most important dates in the industry calendar so it is a real privilege to once again have been recognised by our peers in the wider UK telecoms community.

“To have been nominated for four individual awards is a ringing endorsement of the tremendous work done by all of the team to build and develop innovative solutions that bring lasting benefits to clients’ businesses. We can go into the final itself with confidence of doing well and returning home with something to show for our efforts.”

Over the past 12 months, SureVoIP has enhanced its software offering with a strong focus on integration with other systems, analytics and improving operational efficiencies. This has included the creation of a new customer portal to increase functionality and usability.

Developed in collaboration with its customers, users can control number routing, view their call usage, send text messages, manage contacts, download invoices and analyse call costs over hours, days, weeks or months. All information is displayed in easy-to-understand graphs and charts, while data can be exported for complete transparency.

Modern software engineering practices have been employed to allow new feature releases and bug fixes to be deployed using modern DevOps practices, which enabled SureVoIP to react to customer changes quickly.

The business has also achieved integration with Signalling System No.7 (SS7) telephony – an Ofcom-regulated way of physically connecting to BT’s own network, rather than over the internet. Following an intensive 18-month process and six-figure investment, SureVoIP is now able to compete on a level playing field with some of the industry’s major players, including BT, Gamma, TalkTalk and Virgin.

SureVoIP has also completed the lengthy BT Openreach WLR3 (Wholesale Line Rental 3) set-up phase which enables full access to the entire suite of BT Openreach products and services.

Gavin added: “The past year has seen the business make significant progress towards achieving an even greater level of technical excellence and capability which, in turn, better  supports our customers, from charities to large corporates, to achieve more from their business-critical systems.”

In June 2016, SureVoIP won the ITSPA award for Best Business ITSP (Medium Enterprise) and was also a finalist in the Best Business ITSP (Corporate) and Best VoIP Infrastructure categories. Last year, SureVoIP was a finalist for the Best Business ITSP (Corporate) and Best Business ITSP (Small Enterprise) honours at the same event.

The business received further recognition from the ITSPA when it was awarded the organisation’s coveted Quality Mark in recognition of SureVoIP’s innovative approach to business communications.
